It is now possible for international customers to open a Nickel account, with over 190 passports accepted. Check out the list of countries here.
To open your account, you must :

Be a natural person (no company),

Be a tax resident of at least one country in the European Union and EFTA*.

Have a mailing address in Belgium,

Have a valid mobile number and e-mail address (optional for the minor, mandatory for the parent/legal guardian) if the legal guardian does not have a Nickel account
To open your account, you need :

Have a mobile phone number andemail address. For minors, the legal representative must have a valid mobile number and e-mail address.

Have € 20 in cash or credit card to buy your Nickel box.

Foreign students can open a Nickel account provided that the mention "authorize its holder to work" is mentioned on the residence permit.
*The opening of an account is not possible for US citizens and residents or in case of birth in the US. You must be able to provide a certificate of loss of citizenship or other proof of non-obtainment of citizenship.
Accepted documents are :

Belgian national identity card, with MRZ band or European identity card.

Belgian passport or equivalent document from a European Union* or EFTA country (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland),

Residence permit issued by a Belgian authority: residence permit or resident card

For minors, the representative must have a family record book

Conditions of acceptability of the documents provided

The identity document must be in good condition, legible and must not be truncated. If this is the case, we will be forced to block your account until we receive a new ID

A driver's license is not accepted.
Case of expired coins :

Only French national identity cards, issued on or after 2 January 2004 can be extended by 5 years (provided the holder is of age when the document is issued). All other outdated parts are not accepted.
